The West Region were recognised at an event at Glasgow City Chambers on 30th January where they were presented with an Award for achieving the 2nd Level of Glasgow Life’s Clubmark Award

There are 3 Levels for the Clubmark Scheme as shown below and the Region are now working towards that final stage. Regional Sceretary Jim Smith said that this was a great scheme run in conjunction with the Sports Council for Glasgow and recommended all Glasgow Clubs to join both the Sports Council and register for the Clubmark Scheme

Get Active (Safe): this is the 1st level of Clubmark and sets the minimum standards of operation, like that of child protection and First Aid. The aim is for clubs to have the tools to provide a safe environment for young people to enjoy sport at.
Be Active (Inclusive): this is the 2nd level of Clubmark. Clubs have to show evidence of having good procedures in place for the management of their club, with the main focus on the growth of the club to be more inclusive.
Stay Active (Effective): this is the final level of Clubmark accreditation. Within this level the main focus is on volunteer development, management and club development. Clubs are asked to produce action plans to ensure they are planning ahead for the future of their club.

The Under 16 and 17 Age Group have training on Sunday 5th February

Players should meet for 5-20pm, bring a towel, and outstanding passports, trip or raffle money on the night

The Under 17 Blue Squad play St Mirren on 2nd February

The Under 14’s play Celtic on Sunday 12th February

The 10th Glasgow City Cup had a full mix of the weather, but that did not stop a great weekend of football. All the Finals took place on the Sunday with some new names on the Trophy and some previous winners regaining the Trophy. also new video highlights at Youth Football Scotland

The Region has a number you can contact through the day rather than just leave a message on the answermachine. You can also now text results to this number, remember Age Group, Tie Number, Competition, Teams Involved and result must be included with all text messages.If phoning in you must still phone results via the answerphone (0141 764 3663) where important messages may be given out.
